Make this easy, hot chili cream cheese dip for your next gathering. It is a simple, cheesy appetizer perfect for game days or potlucks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chili (no beans preferred)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: sliced green onions, extra shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8-inch pie plate or a small oven-safe baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chili, sour cream, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. Stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese (1/2 cup) into the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into your prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the dip.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.
  7. If desired, top with sliced green onions before serving.
  8. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, use hot chili or add a dash of cayenne pepper to the mixture.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, you can use an electric mixer to blend the cream cheese and sour cream before adding the chili.
  • This dip reheats well; cover leftovers tightly and microwave in short bursts until warm.
