Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons dried chives
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional mix-ins: 2 tablespoons chopped pimentos or 1/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon
  • Crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt to the bowl.
  3. Use an electric mixer or a sturdy spoon to beat the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  4. If using, gently fold in the pimentos or bacon bits until evenly distributed.
  5. Taste the dip and adjust seasonings if needed.
  6. Cover the bowl and chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Serve cold with your favorite crackers or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, substitute 2 tablespoons of the mayonnaise with sour cream.
  • To make this a hot cream cheese dip, bake the mixture in a small oven-safe dish at 350°F for 15 minutes until bubbly.
  • Prepare this dip a day ahead; it tastes even better the next day.
  • Use this as a base for other savory cracker spreads by adding ingredients like smoked salmon or finely chopped olives.
